My name is Lori, the founder of Anseras Design.

TLDR: I love design. I love jewelry. Life events led me to starting my own jewelry design business using natural materials from the earth. Customization is my thing.

But if you have a minute, I’d love to share life with you so keep reading.

Love:

I have always loved jewelry. I was the friend that had the cool earrings you wanted to borrow. I even managed the costume jewelry department of a large department store right out of college. Then life happened. I got married, and later was surprised by the arrival of my beloved twins. Earrings and necklaces were put away for fear of being yanked out by exuberant babies. Making it through the day was a victory and jewelry was no longer a thought.

Life:

But the day came when babies grew into small children, and I felt safe wearing earrings again. I remember fishing my jewelry box out of the back of the closet and experiencing the joy of seeing old friends. But life. My little family was involved in a horrible car crash resulting in lots of broken bones and me becoming a widow one week after my 31st birthday. Fast forward. This single mom raised her beloved kids and was left with a VERY empty nest and a teaching career she no longer wanted. What on earth was next?

Change:

Not what I expected, that’s what. The years of stress had taken their toll, not to mention a bout with breast cancer. Amidst the pandemic years I was diagnosed with chronic hives and angioedema. That doesn’t sound terrible, but the daily symptoms slowly upended my life. In the hopes of finding healing and a quieter, less-stressed life, I sold everything, quit my job and moved to Mexico.  And I did! It was a lovely time in my life and I saw some improvements. But after almost 2 years I missed my family and decided to move back to the states.

Hope:

And this is where jewelry re-enters the story. Oh, the artisans in Mexico. The jewelry they made and sold in markets and stores was absolutely gorgeous. It was then I realized that  people could earn a living making beautiful things.

But after moving back to the states my health took another plunge. I could barely walk and was in constant pain. And no one could tell me why. So, I began learning about the effects stress and environmental toxins have on the body. Also, about allergies to things we put in, and on our bodies, including what’s in our jewelry.

Beginnings:

My health has been slowly improving as I’ve tried to implement everything I’ve been learning about stress, toxins, and allergens. I also started taking free business classes offered in my community because I had always had the dream of owning my own small business.

And finally, Anseras Design was born.
